Theodolite Traversing
Theodolite: It is an instrument used to measure the horizontal and vertical angles. It is also known as Universal Instrument.




To measure vertical angle (VA).

To measure the bearing of line.

âĸ To measure the horizontal distance between two points (tachometry surveying).

To measure the vertical heights of the objects (trigonometric levelling)

Ranging a line.

To measure the slope of a natural ground.

Types of Theodolite
According to the telescope.
i.  transit Theodolite

Telescope can be completely revolved in a horizontal or vertical plane.
ii. Non-transit Theodolite
Telescope can only be completely revolved in a horizontal plane, but it can be revolved to a certain/small extent in vertical plane (i.e., 0° to 45°).
According to the display of readings.
i. Optical Theodolite
